UDL Charter - By Laws and Regulations
This tome, written in the blood of a mortal virgin, blessed by Old skull himself, is the proclamation of the Undead Lords, the Chosen of Myrkul! The following bylaws are subject to amendment upon majority vote of the Council of the UnDead. Each faction's charter may be altered slightly to fit the needs of their current game realm as long as the charter and its initial by-laws remain intact. All rules must be followed and honored and any violation or disregard will be punishable by fines of game money, game treasure, probation, or expulsion! There are no exceptions! Myrkul is a vengeful god with an insatiable appetite for Chaos and Death, woe be to those who cross his path will ill intent!
Council of the UnDead
This Council is a body of members designed only to fulfill the following purposes. The Council of the UnDead will consist of the Arch Lich (GM) of each sanctioned faction, an equal amount of Knights to the number of GMs and the Arbitrator. The Knights and Arbitrator will be chosen by majority vote by the Knights from all sanctioned factions. The Arbitrator will reside as head of the Council in name only. The Arbitrator's duties are to moderate meetings, call for votes and be the final deciding faction if a vote is tied. The Arch Lich of each unsanctioned faction will also be included but have no voting rights. By no means will this Council interfere with any sanctioned faction's leadership other than what is listed below.
The Councils purpose is:
- Make major amendments to this Charter.
- To assure that each faction upholds the by-laws stated in this Charter.
- Determine a faction's status based on this Charter's requirements(sanctioned, unsanctioned, desanctioned).
Guild Purpose
The purpose of the Undead Lords is to gather the means to restore Myrkul from the Astral Plane so He may take His rightful place upon the Throne of Skulls as foretold in the Prophecy. This is accomplished through our Roleplay and our PvP skills.
Integrity and Image
The guild of the Undead Lords is a roleplaying and pvp guild. The guild expects members to represent the guild on a mature level regardless of actions against you, we always stay in the role of our characters. There is never any trash talk or name calling over any game communication medium including outside boards. We taunt our prey with style and request that all real arguments that may erupt in the game environment be handled outside the confines of the game realm.
By-Laws
All Members agree to abide by this Charter of the Undead Lords.
All Members agree to help recruit new members when the Gate is open.
All Members agree to follow the realm specific rules in PVP combat.
All Members agree to abide by the TOS (Terms of Service) game rules.
All Members agree to honor and respect PVP and Roleplaying efforts of the guild.
All Members agree to honor game specific rules and adjustments set forth by the each faction's leadership.
Leadership
The guild leadership is focused at the game level, the faction. The Undead Lords is a large guild that spans several gaming worlds. There can only be one faction per gaming realm at any given time. Each faction in order to be recognized by the rest of the guild must adhere to this charter and the rank structure. A faction can only be started by a Vested Knight. A Vested knight is defined as anyone granted the passage of unlife in ceremony by a recognized faction and having served six months in the role of Knight in a Sanctioned faction. Arch Liches (GMs) at faction creation will be voted by the existing Knight population in that faction. Once appointed, the new GM will then choose his officers from the current Vested Knights playing within the game realm. After which, the officers of the faction (Inner Circle) will nominate officer appointments when a postion is available or remove officers by a majority vote when necessary. For new officers the Arch Lich will choose one among the nominations given to him by his Inner Circle, however must adhere to the majority vote on removals. Only a Vested Knight can be voted to the faction's Inner Circle. The guild is made up of 4 tiers of rank, Officers (Inner Circle), Knights, Squires, Slaves.
Inner Circle Hierarchy
The following is a list of the faction Officers. Their duties are described in theHierarchy section.
Arch Lich (GM)
Lich Lord (AGM)
Gatekeeper
Arch Priest
WarLord
Arch Sage
Arch Shadow
Death Lord
Factions
Only one Sanctioned faction will be allowed per each game realm. If the game mechanics offer a Player versus Player environment, then a faction will always choose that option. In order to create a Sanctioned UDL faction the following conditions must be met:
- All officer positions must be filled by Vested Knights of memberships of no less than 6 months.
- Petitioning factions must have active full-time officers at all times. A full-time officer is a Vested Knight not associated with any other faction due to the fact that an officer can not be performing his duties to the fullest by playing within another realm.
- Once the officer positions are filled, a list of said officers will be presented to the Council of UnDead.
Once these conditions are met, the faction is recognized as a full faction and is granted a faction board on the website and its own email list. The GM will then be given voting priviledges in the Council of the UnDead.
If a newly petitioned faction does not meet these requirements, then they will be considered Unsanctioned and have no board or email priviledges other than the current listings. The GM of said faction will be granted membership to the Council of UnDead but only for reporting updates to the Council of their faction and have no voting priviledges. Once the above requirements are met, then the faction will be given a Sanctioned status.
If a current faction falls below the requirements for officers, then the faction can become Desanctioned. The Council of the UnDead will make the determination whether a faction is Desanctioned. If a faction is Desanctioned due to lack of officer requirements or low membership activity, then those who wish to remain in that faction may appeal for UnSanctioned status to the Council.
Roleplay
Role-playing is an essential part of the Undead Lords. During activity in the game, ALL members must remain in character at all times when in public view. Remember, this is what the game was based on in the very beginning. Imagination is a key element to being a good role-player. It is important to RP and it makes the game more interesting as well. We *ARE* evil undead (Knights are undead, squires are still alive) and consider anyone not of the faith to be fair game. Therefore, we have diversity of characters from the sublime to the grotesque (rules of game etiquette and consensual play for adult scenes do apply), and we urge you to do your evil utmost upon the deserving good guys and various enemies.
PVP
Player-vs-player combat is essential to our goal of bringing our God's Power into the lands we occupy. The guild gathers souls to strengthen Him and thus give Him the power to sustain us until we can open the Gates of Hades (Death) to allow Him entrance into the realm. All members must fully understand the guild's rules to PvP before attacking another player. New Squires and Slaves shall NEVER enter into a PvP without the direct consent of a Knight. Remember, engaging and killing another character is part of role of an evil, be it consenual or not. Any violations of the rules set forth by the faction leadership concerning PvP combat will be punishable by Order Law.
Alliances
On occasion, when it suits us, we may declare allies to further our cause. Alliances are made at the descretion of the faction leadership as it pertains to their realm. All alliances made will be recognized within that game only. Alliances are ventures with other groups or guilds for a temporary time. Alliances can be made through a verbal or written agreement or through the mechanics of the game, like an optional game command, if applicable within the game system. If no game mechanics are available, then the faction is allowed to join under another guild tag for a limited time period. This venture can not extend beyond 30 days whereas the faction will no longer be considered as a UDL faction but rather as an entirely different entity and said faction will be Desanctioned. Remember, all other players are but maggots beneath our heels to be stepped on and used then discarded as we see fit.
Sects within the Undead Lords
There are three sects within the Undead Lords -- the Nightmare Legion, the Priesthood and the Deathknights. The three different sects are provided to give our players opportunities to play characters within their particular style of play as well as areas of the game that they enjoy. It is not uncommon to have characters overlap any of the sects and some sects may not exist due to game limitations.
The Nightmare Legion - the PvP sect
The Nightmare Legion is the PvP sect of the guild. They are headed by the WarLords. They will base the majority of their game play to the death of and destruction of our enemies. Their main focus will be on quality PvP play. The sect will also help provide training in PvP to the new squires in addition to the squire's mentor. The majority of members will be a part of this sect.
The Priesthood - the RP sect
The Priesthood will role play the story of the return of Myrkul. Directed by the Unholy Consecrator, the priests are responsible for relating to all game players of His eminent return to the realms. The main focus of the Priesthood will be on guild story telling but some of the priests also will collect souls for Myrkul through PvP and will aid the WarLords as soldiers in times of war.
The Deathknights - the Questing sect
The Deathknights are the questing sect for the Undead Lords. They are resided over by the Death Lord. The Deathknights partake in questing with the guild. Their duties lie in gathering information on quests and helping with all quests. Many will overlap this sect also. The Deathknights will be under direction of the WarLords at times of war.
Membership Admittance
All wishing acceptance among the ranks of the UnDead Lords must contact the Gatekeeper for an application when the Gates are open. Once the completed application is returned to the Gatekeeper, the screening process will begin. If the candidate passes the screening and receives a positve vote from the Inner Circle the candidate will enter a probation period as a Slave. During this time, game play, role-play and story posting shall be closely monitored by the Gatekeeper. At the end of the probation period, the candidate shall either be accepted as a Squire of the UnDead Lords and assigned a mentor or be excused from service.
Mission Statement
We are the Children of Myrkul, God of the Dead, beloved of Him and blessed with His Touch of Undeath by His Will. All power acquired is attributed to Him. It is our duty to Harvest for Him the essences of all that oppose or fail to bow before his Will, to sate His Dark Hunger, to acquire the Power to bring Him into realms in which He does not yet exist and to spread His terror across the land according to UDL Law founded upon His Edicts. He is the only reason and purpose for our existence and there are no other Gods before Him. The unholy jihad has begun.
After reviewing these By-Laws and understanding them, if you wish to apply to the Undead Lords for membership contact the gatekeeper.
